WHEN and WHERE is the SAT? The SAT is scheduled for Saturday, March 14th @ 8:00am and takes place in the LUHS Cafeteria.
8:00am on a Saturday??? YEAH I KNOW but it's not up to me. Please arrive at 7:30am so you can get settled and make sure your tech is working. We start the test at 8:00am sharp and you won't be admitted if you arrive after that.
Okay sounds terrible, how do I register? You must complete the registration on the CollegeBoard website. The deadline to register is Friday, February 27th. Your counselor can help you with registration if you get confused! But the deadline is during our Feb break so we won't be able to help you if you leave it until the last minute.
Why am I doing this again? The SAT is a college entrance exam, meaning some colleges will require these scores as part of your application. About 25% of colleges require SAT scores. Even if you don't end up needing them, it's a good idea to have scores just in case you apply to a college that requires them.
Fine. Do I have to take them in March? No. On the registration page, you can see all of the testing dates. If you register to take them in May or June, the testing location will be a different school. They are offered again at LUHS in October 2026, when you're a senior. Some students take the test twice to try to improve their scores.
How do I prepare for the SAT? Taking the PSAT is a good way to prepare, so good job already doing that. You can review your PSAT scores on your CollegeBoard account, to see areas that would be good to review before the SAT. You should familiarize yourself with the test as much as possible so that you know what to expect. There are a wealth of test prep resources on the CollegeBoard website. They should all be free. Khan Academy also has excellent (and free) test prep guides.
I have more questions! Ask your counselor! We are here to help, don't be afraid to ask.
