Freedom & Unity: Tuition-Free Degrees at Vermont State University
A college degree is within reach for qualifying Vermont residents. Freedom & Unity unlocks free tuition for an associate or bachelor's degree at Vermont State University (VTSU).
If a student's family income is $65,000 or less, they could be eligible to attend VTSU, full- or part-time, tuition-free. This program is open to Vermont residents of any age who do not have a bachelor's degree.
VTSU offers many undergraduate programs with flexible learning formats, including in-person, online, and hybrid classes. To get started, simply complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Vermont Grant application, and apply for admission to VT State University.

VSAC-Assisted Scholarship Deadline is Only a Month Away
The deadline for students to submit the Unified Scholarship Application (USA) and ALL required documents is Wednesday, February 11, 2026 for all VSAC-assisted scholarships.
Encourage students to submit documents at leastone week ahead of time! Required documents, including transcripts and recommendation letters, can be uploaded through the VSAC online portal or emailed to Scholarships@vsac.org.
VSAC will be offering a free, public event for high school families on Saturday, March 14, 1-5pm. Families can participate in person at UVM or virtually via Zoom.
