We are excited to share information about Early College, an opportunity for eligible high school students to begin earning college credit while still enrolled in high school. Applications are now open for the 2027-2028 school year!
What is Early College?
Early College allows seniors to take college-level courses during their senior year of high school. These courses count toward both high school graduation requirements and future college credits, helping students get a head start on college while saving time and money. Students remain enrolled in high school while experiencing the expectations of college coursework.
Who is Early College available for?
Early College is available to students entering their senior year who:

Are academically ready for college-level coursework

Are on track to graduate

Demonstrate independence, motivation, and strong time-management skills
Students must apply to participate, and eligibility requirements vary by institution and program.
Where can students take Early College courses?
Early College opportunities are available through several Vermont institutions, including:

Vermont State University (VTSU):
Offers a variety of college-level courses that allow students to explore academic interests while earning transferable college credit. The majority of LUHS students attend classes on the Johnson campus. Find out more about VTSU Early College here. -
