Due to Covid-19, Driver's Education courses are delayed for the 2020-2021 school year. Class times will be announced as they are finalized. The sign up dates for Driver's Education remain the same: the weeks of February 15, May 15 and September 15.
During a regular school year, Driver's Education courses are offered twice each semester and once in the summer. The semester courses are offered in an early morning session, beginning at 7 am and ending at 8 am. The afternoon session starts at 3:15 pm after school and ends at 5 pm. The summer session dates start after school in mid-May, ending in July.
There are three sign ups for Driver's Education every school year: the weeks of September 15, February 15 and May 15. Only students with a valid Vermont learner's permit and in grades 10-12 can sign up. Reminders will be given on the school's morning announcements that eligible students can sign up with Mrs. Cooney in the guidance office. For the 2020-2021 school year, students who are learning remotely may email a photo of their permit during the sign up week to firstname.lastname@example.org. Students signing up are put on a waiting list, and priority is given to seniors and to students who have had their permit the longest. Students not immediately placed in a class will remain on the waiting list until a spot becomes available.
Students will be driving during the day when they have a study hall, after school or sometimes on the weekends. Driving schedules are posted in the front lobby where your student can relay the information home.
